Workshops for middle leaders

Regional workshops and clusters provide opportunities for middle leaders to come together to develop learning-focused communities. Key focus areas are supporting middle leaders with the NCEA standards alignment process and with learning area literacy and language needs, in the context of The New Zealand Curriculum.
Workshop information has recently been updated to include the 2014 timetable.

NEW FEATURE – National events and The New Zealand Curriculum

This new section on NZC Online highlights national days and weeks of importance. National events are linked to The New Zealand Curriculum and ideas, resources, and tools are provided to help schools get involved. The feature on Anzac Day shows how you can support students to explore values such as respect and honour, examine the social science concepts of identity, continuity and change, and develop key competencies.

A second look at Ka Hikitia – Accelerating Success 2013–2017

Over the next few months NZC Online will feature a series of blogs about Ka Hikitia – Accelerating Success 2013–2017. The blog posts will look closely at different aspects of the Māori education strategy and provide questions, resources, and suggested actions for school leaders and kaiako.

This second blog post explores another guiding principle – Māori potential approach. It considers what is meant by the Māori potential approach principle, provides questions for leaders and kaiako to consider, includes inspirational school stories, and offers links to resources that promote high expectations and strong educational pathways for Māori students.
