National Standards come into effect in English-medium schools with pupils in years 1 to 8 in 2010. The standards set clear expectations for students in reading, writing and mathematics in the first eight years at school. The National Standards are also available online on this website.

New Zealand Curriculum Online has been supporting teachers and school leaders since the curriculum launch in 2007. In that time the site has grown substantially. Now it is time for a new look and organisation to take account of this growth and take us into the future.
