If we need help

Teachers' Moka Britten and Archana Sharma talk about how their students’ families are ready to help and take on responsibilities.

Transcript

We have all sorts of extended family members who come to the school, whether to help out with the netball, the kapa haka group, whatever is happening. If we ever need any help, there’s always been that help available from the community, from the extended family. There’s lots of little things that are happening and it’s bubbling away and you think that’s “Oh that’s going well, Oh wow, I didn’t know that was happening”.

The comfort zone gets wider and wider between parents and school. So you can talk to anyone, you can say can you get me this, can you help me with this, and never is there an answer where people say no, no-one says that any longer.
