Outcome sought through procurement:
- Kura and Māori medium settings, using Te Marautanga o Aotearoa, implement effective te reo me ōna tikanga Māori teaching and learning initiatives.
- English-medium schools, using Te Aho Arataki Marau mō te Ako i Te Reo Māori – Kura Auraki, implement effective te reo me ōna tikanga Māori teaching and learning initiatives.
- Teachers’ proficiency of Te Reo Māori is strengthened to support student progress and achievement.
- Māori medium settings and English medium schools better understand second language acquisition to more effectively meet the needs of second language learners.
- Effective pedagogical practices, relevant to the sector they are designed for, are more prevalent in schools and kura, providing quality te reo me ōna tikanga Māori intiatives.
- Māori aspirations for language regeneration and cultural transmission are evident in the initiatives provided.
- Iwi organisations participate in and support the implementation of the initiatives.
- Te Rūnanga Nui o ngā Kura Kaupapa Māori o Aotearoa and Kura ā-Iwi Incorporated society are engaged to complement PLD provision in kura they are responsible for.

Ensuring the provision of quality teaching and learning of, and through, Te Reo Māori remains a priority for the Ministry of Education.
Specific professional learning and development initiatives focused on this outcome will:
- support leaders, teachers, kaimahi, and learners to lift their Te Reo Māori proficiency, understanding and use of the language
- provide explicit opportunities for iwi to be involved in supporting and implementing appropriate and quality initiatives that focus on te reo me ōna tikanga Māori provision.
