Supporting children and young people to stay connected and recover well

09/04/19

Recovery and wellbeing advice after the tragic event of 15 March

Following the terrorist attack in Christchurch, the Ministry of Education is providing support to schools, kura, and early learning services. It is critical our children and young people get the support and care they need at this time. We also need to look after our teachers and staff.

There is a heading called “Supporting adults” which provides information for adults on supporting themselves and getting good sleep, and for principals on supporting their staff.

The Ministry is very focused on Christchurch but we know children and young people around the country have been impacted by Friday the 15th's event. We are ensuring everyone is provided with the support they need.

You can find advice and guidance on the Ministry's website.

There is also a newly published Education Gazette article, which has good teaching-related information in it.
