Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day logo.

Safer Internet Day is celebrated globally on Tuesday 5 February 2019 to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people. This year's theme is Together for a Better Internet. The day provides an opportunity for schools to raise awareness and start conversations about online safety.

To get involved, you might like to visit the SID19 supporter page for presentations, social media packs, and other resources.

Three actions to take this Internet Safety Day

Netsafe New Zealand recommends three actions to take this Internet Safety Day:

1. Start having conversations about online safety with the young people in your life. Download conversation starters from the Netsafe website

2. Do an online profile check-up. Check out Netsafe's advice for keeping your social media profiles private.

3. Share something positive online. Netsafe provides some ideas of things that you can share online.
