One more look at Ka Hikitia – Accelerating Success 2013–2017

21/05/14

This third and final blog post in the Ka Hikitia series is an interview with Wharehoka Wano, Kaihautū Māori at CORE, who shares his views about the strategy and offers practical advice.

Whare discusses the principle of ako – a two-way teaching and learning process, and emphasises the importance of identity, language, and culture. He concludes the interview by challenging schools to engage with Māori students and their communities, and take action to accelerate Māori achievement.

The blog post includes guiding questions and links to related resources to help schools consider what actions they will take to bring the Māori education strategy to life.
