OECD report confirms New Zealand education system is performing well

24/09/19

New Zealand’s education system continues to perform well compared with other developed countries, with high levels of participation and achievement.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development’s (OECD) Education at a Glance 2019 report compares data from 37 OECD countries, and a number of partner countries, and is perhaps the most comprehensive international assessment of our education system.

The report confirms New Zealanders are well served by their education system overall.

The report paints an overall picture of success, from early childhood education, where participation rates are high and child-teacher ratios are low, to adult education, where the share of our population with a tertiary qualification is comparatively high.
