Curriculum change at Weber School
18/11/09
Weber School is a decile seven school with a roll of 50 students and three classrooms. The school is situated 35 minutes outside of Dannevirke nestled in scenic country and surrounding hills.
The staff at Weber School have been investigating inquiry learning for quite a few years and have worked with quite a few models. They have now decided that there is no one size fits all model and continue to adapt to suit their students' needs and their learning intentions. At Weber School, inquiry truly has become 'just the way we do things around here' rather than a teaching approach.
Principal, Chrissie Beetham, talks us through her approach to leading change and the myriad of ways the school involves the community in student learning. They have a very successful programme that engages not only their immediate school community but also community members with no direct link to the school.
