New Zealand Curriculum Reading and Writing National Standards wall charts
26/05/11
Classroom wall charts were recently sent to every teacher of students in years 1–8 (distributed to schools 9 May 2011), who are learning within The New Zealand Curriculum. They summarise The New Zealand Curriculum Reading and Writing Standards for Years 1–8 and The Literacy Learning Progressions.
The wall charts can be used to discuss the progress and achievement in reading and writing for students in years 1–8.
The wall charts, and other publications that support The New Zealand Curriculum Standards, can be viewed on the Supporting parents and whānau page – right-hand 'Other support resources' box.
You can order copies from Down the Back of the Chair, 0800 660 662 or email orders@thechair.minedu.govt.nz. Quote item numbers:
- 11564 (reading)
- 11565 (writing)
Note: In these two wall charts, there is a change in wording from ‘towards level 2/3/4’ to ‘early level 2/3/4.’ The minor change to the wording came about in response to feedback from principals and teachers to ensure consistency in language across both the literacy standards and mathematics standards. However, there is no change in the intent or meaning of the replaced words.
