These illustrations are available to support planning, teaching, and judgments about students’ progress and achievement. Currently there are six mathematical tasks, which provide 14 illustrations of student work achieving 'at' a mathematical standard. Further illustrations will be added next year.

This is an interim report of findings from 80 schools reviewed in Term 3, 2010. As part of the review process, ERO asked specific questions about each school's use of National Standards, its preparedness for these and how well school leaders, teachers and trustees understood the National Standards.

The reading and writing standards illustrations on Literacy Online demonstrate the literacy demands of the texts and tasks students will be engaging with across the curriculum. These illustrations support planning, teaching, and judgments about students’ progress and achievement. Currently this section includes the twenty two illustrations found in the Reading and Writing Standards document and five new illustrations. Three more reading illustrations will be added early in December. Further illustrations will be added in April and June 2011.

The Ministry of Education is delivering two series of webinars during November to directly support Boards of Trustees. Starting November 1, a series titled "What Made a Difference?" looks at school planning and reporting, and how Boards can work with the principals and staff to make a positive and sustainable difference to student progress and achievement. Another webinar series will start on November 15 and will cover school charters 2011 and will provide guidance to incorporate National Standards.

This is a series of professional learning modules which will support teachers to develop shared expectations and understanding of student learning and progress through the process of moderation. The modules are designed to inform and promote professional discussions between individual teachers and in staff meetings. They can be used as stand-alone or as a full series.
