Te wiki o te reo Māori
30/06/11 | 4 comments
The 4th to 10th of July 2011 is Te wiki o te reo Māori.
With the help of Tamara Bell, Te Manawa Pou Facilitator, we provide this list of resources.
Māori language week on NZ History Online
This site provides the history of Te wiki o te reo Māori, including a quiz and video clips. This resource might be suitable for older students.
The Korero Māori site explains the theme for this year 'Manaakitanga', and also provides a wealth of resources free of charge to the public. Each item has an assigned limit so it would be worth visiting the site early.
Promotional videos from Te Taura Whiri i te Reo Māori (Māori Language Commission)
These promotional videos focus on the theme of Manaakitanga. They are short succinct clips, highlighting 'Manaakitanga Moments' so this concept is seen 'in action and in context'
Te wiki o te reo Māori on FaceBook
If you are a FaceBook user, there is a te wiki o te reo Māori community to join with links to great resources being shared.
This reomation (animation in te reo Māori) from the He Reo Tupu He Reo Ora website is about preparing food for manuhiri - a form of manaakitanga.
Here are some links to Tamara's favourite te reo Māori sites that she says she would visit almost every day:
If you have any other resources you would like to share, please add them in the comments.

Great list of resources thanks, others may also want to visit the Digistore wiki for more, including learning paths and digital content recommended by the community.

Kia ora
I was wondering if you could add the reomation from He Reo Tupu He Reo Ora called 'Te Mahi Kai' http://hereoora.tki.org.nz/Unit-plans/Unit-3-Kai/Reomations/Te-mahi-kai-Preparing-food
It's about preparing kai for manuhiri mhich I thought may fit well with the 'manaakitanga' theme.
