This diagram represents the three spheres of activity required to provide effective career education and guidance in schools.

 

The foundation level is setting goals. These goals will reflect, and be reflected in, the school’s vision, strategy and plans. They will be set by boards of trustees, principals and careers lead teams.

 

Next is designing programmes. These programmes will link to, and be linked into, structures and programmes across the whole school. They will be designed by careers lead teams working with pastoral care and curriculum leaders.

 

The top level is delivering programmes, evaluating and reporting on them. Delivery will be incorporated into the delivery of the school-based curriculum. It will involve all staff and be managed by careers lead teams.
