The Ministry has developed a self-review tool to support schools in the implementation of the National Standards. This tool is designed to be used with boards, in-school leaders and teachers.

It enables schools to identify their strengths and next steps for school development.

Using the self-review decision tree and professional learning templates

School leaders and teachers can use the self-review tools to reflect on their practice. They can then:

  1. reflect on key areas for professional learning in the next twelve months and those that may be focused on in later years
  2. consider whether these areas are for whole-school, syndicate, or individual learning
  3. record goals, activities, and a time frame for professional learning in the strategic or annual plan, appraisal or team documentation, or in a separate professional learning and action plan for the next twelve months.

The following documents will assist schools to follow a process of development.
